Welcome to the web home of The Shire of Gate's Edge. We are a local Chapter of the The Society for Creative Anachronism, within the northern portion of Houston, TX. Gate's Edge is within the Kingdom of Ansteorra (Texas and Oklahoma).

Our good neighbors to the south are the Barony of Stargate (Central Houston) and the Barony of Loch Solleir (South-East Houston). Our neighbors to the North are the Barony of Raven's Fort (Huntsville and Conroe) and the Shire of Shadowlands (Bryan - College Station).

About the SCA
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to learning more about the Middle Ages through reenactment. There are SCA chapters worldwide and they hold regular feasts, tournaments, balls, and wars.

Among the activities available are: armored combat, period fencing, combat and target archery, calligraphy, illumination, costuming, brewing, vintning and too many more to cover. Almost any art or craft practiced in the Middle Ages has its modern proponents.

To start participating in the SCA all you need to do is show up. Loaner garb and equipment are available in most places. If you want someone to talk to before showing up, contact our Hospitaler or Seneschal.
